Courses of Major in Korean Economy

ÈÌèÊÍ316. Higher Mathematics (4). This course is designed to present the student with basic knowledge of vectors, lines, and planes. Discussion also covers ellipses, hyperbolas, and parabolas; a system of coordinates, matrixes, and determinants; linear equations and properties of limits; primary functions continuity and construction of graphs, indefinite integrals, tabular integration geometrical significance, as well as area and volume calculation.
ÂÈ319. Korean Dictionary Compiling Practice (1). The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with computerized dictionaries based on computer applications designed by the informational laboratory of Higher College of Korean Studies.
ÂÈ662. Statistics (3). This course explores socio-economic processes in social life and determines their particular quantification.
ÈÌèÊÍ663. Mathematics in Economics (2). The purpose of this course is to present the student with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in economic problem modeling and solving by means of computer applications.
ÂÈ313. Korean Economy (2).
I. A course in the Economy of the KPDR includes divisions which deal with North Korea economic system. The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the basic structural elements, development and problems of the North Korean economy. Discussion covers economic policy of the Korean Labor Party and the North Korean state. Emphasis is placed on the causes of current economic crisis in the Korean People's Democratic Republic.
II. A course in the Korean Economy is designed to study economic planning of South Korea, and the industrial sector of economy. The purpose is to study South Korea's model of economic development, as well as to highlight its specific characteristics, and to elucidate Korean collaboration with other countries at different stages of the world economy development.
III. A course in the credit, financial, monetary policies, and foreign economic relations of the Republic of Korea includes such topics as credit and financial systems, monetary policy, and foreign economic relations of South Korea. Emphasis is placed on some specific problems in the credit and financial systems of the Korean economy, as well as in foreign economic relations. Discussion covers the government policies designed to overcome these difficulties.
ÂÈ672. History of Economic Studies (2). The course is designed to explore basic economic schools' development trends, and the most outstanding economists' biographies and ideas. Economic analysis tools are considered.
ÂÈ666. Foundations of Management (2). This course explores the theory of management, forms of organization in management, management style and models.
ÈÌÁ102. Accounting (2). It is an introduction to the basic theory and techniques of contemporary financial accounting. Topics include accounting principles, policies, and standards; balance sheets, budgets, and standard costing procedures and variances are considered.
ÂÈ669. Financial Management (2). This course introduces topics of cash flow, cash flow management, financial resource control, manufacturing and sales potential, commercial risk analysis.
ÂÈ670. Finance and Credit in Foreign Countries (2). It is a comparative analysis of monetary and fiscal policy models as well as financial and management instruments in the USA, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China.
ÂÈ671. Marketing Fundamentals (2). This course covers issues of sales promotion, marketing research, distribution, and pricing. Topics addressed include consumers' demand forecasting, and marketing strategies developing.
ÂÈ316. Macroeconomic Process Regulating in South Korea (2). This course is designed to present an overview of macroeconomic system and macroeconomic regulatory instruments in the Republic of South Korea.
ÂÈ664. World Economy (4). The purpose of the course is to study mutual ties of national economies, tendencies and problems of the world economy development. The material about world markets is summarized. Resources and global problems of the world economy, as well as the place and role of Russia and other countries in the world economy system are explored.
ÂÈ667. Auditing (2). Generally accepted auditing standards and audit procedures as related to auditing of financial statements by independent accountants are explored.
ÂÈ329. Korean Dictionary Compiling Practice (2). The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with computerized dictionaries based on computer applications designed by the informational laboratory of Higher College of Korean Studies.
ÂÈ315. Enterprises in the Economy of the Republic of Korea (1). The purpose of this course is to give students ideas about the economy system of the Republic of Korea; small and medium businesses, as well as financial and industrial groups and their interaction. Also, the government policy towards various elements of the Korean economy system is considered.
ÂÈ317. Financial and Industrial Groups in the Republic of Korea. The course explores different financial and industrial groups in the Republic of Korea as transnational corporations, as well as their role in the South Korean economy.
ÂÈ318. Economic Text Translation (1). The course seeks to develop students' skills in translating text on the South Korean economy.
