Master Degree in Oriental Studies (522600)
Period of Study: 2 years after Bachelor degree, or 1 year after Specialist degree
The Master degree course is fulfilled in compliance with the individual program under the standards of Russian Federation Ministry of Education. To obtain the Master of Oriental Studies degree the graduating student is required to defend a final qualification paper (Master thesis) and pass state exams in his/her specialty and a major Oriental language.
The Master degree curriculum consists of 5 specific programs:
    1) Humanities (in corresponding specialty)
    2) Mathematics
    3) Practical language Study
    4) Specialty
    5) Specific Courses (courses provided by the corresponding departments depending on the topic of Master thesis).

In accordance with the specialty plan they are the follows:
    1) Specific courses
    2) Specific Master courses
    3) Scientific (and scientific pedagogical) Master research.
Specialty:
Federal component:
    1. Philosophy (Language Philosophy; History and Theory of Aesthetics; Philosophy of History; History and Theory of Culture; History and Theory of Religion)
    2. Contemporary Linguistics Concepts (Theory of Contemporary Literature concepts; Contemporary History concepts; Modern Culture and Religion concepts)
    3. Logic and Science Methodology
    4. Computer Technologies in Science and Education
    5. Methods of Statistics and Mathematical Modeling

Regional (university) component:
    1. The Oriental Language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
    2. The Occidental Language (English)
Specialty Course offers a variety of topics: History of Phonetics; Theory of Writing; Ethnic Linguistics; Regional Linguistics; Social Linguistics; Oriental Medieval Ideology; Traditional Division of Historical periods in Oriental countries; the Role of Tradition in Society and State in the 20th century; Developing World Politics and Economics; Ethnical Psychology and Culture; and others.
