History of Chinese Civilization Department offers courses for students majoring in regional studies such as regional management and international communication and history of China for Oriental studies majors. It provides a basic course for all majors of the Institute of Oriental Studies.

The department conducts research on historical, cultural, social, and economic trends in Chinese speaking Pacific Rim countries.
